FREE GREEN FLYTRAPS FOR THE INSECTS BUGGING YOU

You need:

empty water bottle or similar (must be transparent)
Piece of flyer/brochure waste paper

Or: jar with small puncture in lid

and:

thin liquid that attracts your pest insect (i use tomato juice+water but juice, beer, wine leftovers do fine)
a couple drops of dishwashing detergent

method:

put the insect attractant thin liquid into the bottle or jar

add a few drops of dishwashing detergent in it and swirl to mix without sudsing.

Screw the lid with the bugsized puncture on the jar or take the piece of paper, roll it into a tube, stick that tube mostly into the bottle, tube a cm above the liquid and put it where the bugs are.

your liquid is now an insecticide, the fruit flies or drain flies or whatever bug smells the gourmet liquid and flies down the narrow entrance, that is hard to find back as the bottle is illuminated by light and flying insects are hardwired to “fly up to the light or fly down to the food”

the food, juice or beer/whine, contains ethyl acetate, a pheromone insect attractant. thats why they come.

dishwashing detergent, just a tiny bit, destroys the surface tension of the liquid. Insects need surface tension not to drown. (think bugs walking on water)

So the insecticide is not a poison, but an attractive food waste product turned into a killing agent with a smidgeon of surface-tension lowering detergent, causing the insect to drown when it tries to drink or land on the surface by accident.

This is why any kind of soap turns water into an insecticide for aphids, even just a little bit of bar soap or shampoo. Laundry detergent is something else, dont use that.

The most ethical humane thing to do is to avoid need for fly traps, wasp traps, this will even work on roaches if you think of how you can employ the thin watery attractant + detergent killing agent in your home, shed and garden for your particular pest insect with a trap made from waste products.

Now you no longer have to buy home and garden insecticides for very many applications because you have an ethical preventive tactic and a humane (overwhelming drowning isnt the hardest way to go) killing agent in insect traps, all made of the waste products you use that attract these little angels, they are YOU in other lifetimes, to you.
